Title: Students and Money: Financial Literacy Skills for the 21st Century
With shrinking welfare systems, shifting demographics, and the increased sophistication of financial services today, there is greater awareness of the importance of ensuring that young people are financially literate. The financial literacy assessment in the 2012 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) offers the first-ever international assessment of the financial literacy and skills of 15-year-old students. The newly released data show how much countries differ in students’ level of financial literacy and what explains these differences. The data also provide important recommendations for parents and teachers.
The presentation will highlight the main findings of the PISA data and how these data can be used to improve financial literacy among the young. For more information about the data and the presentation, see www.gflec.org.
