Leibniz Institute SAFE establishes new professorship in Behavioral Finance
Economist Peter Andre will join the Leibniz Institute for Financial Research SAFE as an Assistant Professor as of 1 October 2023, adding his expertise to the growing research team. “I am very excited to join SAFE this fall, as the institute provides optimal research conditions. It is a great opportunity for me to be able to interact with other great researchers from various disciplines,” says Peter Andre, whose research explores people’s economic expectations, perceptions, and fairness views.

With his experience, he will certainly enrich our research environment,” says Florian Heider, SAFE’s Scientific Director. In 2022, Andre received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Bonn and has since been a Postdoctoral Researcher at the briq – Institute on Behavior & Inequality, including a research stay at Harvard University.
Peter Andre’s work in Behavioral Economics has been published in the Review of Economic Studies and has been covered by numerous international and national (German) media, such as the New York Times, VoxEU, and Der Spiegel. Further, his paper “Shallow Meritocracy” has been awarded with the Distinguished CESifo Affiliate Award in Behavioral Economics. The paper “Misperceived Social Norms and Willingness to Act Against Climate Change”, co-authored with Teodora Boneva, Felix Chopra, and Armin Falk, won the IZA Award for Innovative Research on the Economics of Climate Change.
